With a strong background in horticulture and business management, a dedication to superior client service, and a commitment to sustainability, Burt has been instrumental in leading LaurelRock to its prominent position in the field of Landscape Design/Build and Property Maintenance over the past 30 years. With a talent for hiring and developing great people, Burt has grown the company to more than 65 team members across a range of landscape disciplines.
Prior to founding LaurelRock with his father in 1993, Burt developed an expertise in plant fundamentals at a prominent Connecticut nursery. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture at the University of Connecticut’s prestigious College of Natural Resources. He received accreditation as a Landscape Industry Certified Manager from the National Association of Landscape Professionals (NALP) and has completed professional certificate courses at Rutgers University and the University of Connecticut in the areas of arboriculture, estimating, irrigation installation and ornamental pruning. Burt is an active member of the Board of Directors for the NPO Come Alive Outside, a licensed State of Connecticut Custom Grounds Supervisor and a Connecticut Nursery and Landscape Association (CNLA) Accredited Nursery Professional. He attained the designation of LEED AP (Leadership in Energy and Environment Design, Accredited Professional) from the United States Green Building Council and is a member of NALP’s elite Trailblazer mentor group, a team of dedicated professionals nominated by their peers for making significant and long-term contributions to the green industry. A Connecticut native, Burt and his family live in Fairfield with their two dogs and a bountiful vegetable garden.
